Streamlined Image Downloading for Twitter Users
Twitter Image Downloader is a Firefox extension that simplifies the process of downloading images from Twitter and TweetDeck. When users right-click on an image in their timeline, a context menu option titled 'download original image' appears, allowing for easy downloads. The images are automatically renamed using the poster's username and tweet ID, eliminating the need for manual renaming. Images are saved in a format such as '[username]-[tweetIDextension]', where the [0] indicates the position of the image in case of multiple uploads.
While generally effective, the extension has limitations when used with TweetDeck, particularly with image links that are wrapped in anchor tags. In such cases, the renaming scheme defaults to '[username]-[tweetID].[extension]'. Users must refresh their Twitter page before the first use. The extension may become unavailable due to updates in Twitter or Chrome, and while it has a source code repository available, not all user requests for support may be addressed.
